Living in New Mexico’s high desert, I’m constantly inspired by the succulents and cacti that are native here. This is a New Mexico century plant, named for the long stalk that grows from the center only once in its lifetime (or, only once a century, hence the name, but it’s actually usually about 20-30 years).
